The Trial of the Century - Maguindanao Massacre

Andal Ampatuan Jr. , a celebrity in his own doing not because of his outstanding works as Mayor of Maguindanao but because of the November 23, 2009 massacre of 57 innocent civilians, called as The Maguindanao Massacre.  He even captured the international scene,  thus making him an international celebrity, him,  as the main suspect of this  November 23-carnage.


What even made him a more popular celebrity is his affiliation with President Macapagal Arroyo.   If we remember it right, during the 2004 Presidential elections, the late-actor Fernando Poe, Jr. did not even get a single vote in all three towns in Maguindanao.
During his arraignment last January 5, 2010 wherein he pleaded not guilty,  not a  single trace of remorse was seen on his face.  What was even worse was that before the arraignment, his equally famous lawyer,  Fortun claimed that his client, Andal Ampatuan, Jr.   could not understand English or Filipino, and that he could only understand Maguindanaoan.  When asked again, Andal Ampatuan Jr. said that he could understand English.
This trial is now called "trial of the century."  If we have  Rocky I and Rocky II, this might not end on  its second part, this might go on  for a long time.  No one really knows how long. ........
